Christmas Smackdown is the holiday show that gathers up your most cherished Yuletide sentiments, slams them to the mat and stomps them lifeless. If this is your idea of a good time, welcome to the party.
Written by the team of Mark Nutter (SNL, Third Rock from the Sun, Re-Animator the Musical, The Bicycle Men) and Cynthia Carle (The Sixth Man, You Wish, Sharkpunching in America), the Smackdown takes you on a manic bobsled run down through a wide range of musical styles and a feast of unsavory subjects. This night of original tunes includes SEVERED SWEDISH HEADS, in which happy mall singers in cheap bonnets and top hats reveal the gruesome Norwegian reason why we hang ornaments. JESUS AND GLENN, the sing-along, boy-and-his-dog story of the young messiah and his dinosaur friend. JINGLE DEATH, a 50’s rock&roll teenage tragedy about what happens when good sleigh rides go bad. SANTA CLAUS LIVES IN YOUR MIND, warning us that he might be coming to town but you might be going to hell. Other songs explore the traditional joys of alcohol abuse, arson, stalkers, suicide, divorce, cannibalism, demons, murder, rug damage, and colonic hydrotherapy. Above all, Christmas Smackdown is the perfect winter evening for two kinds of people: those who hate Christmas, and those who really, really hate Christmas.
